Download and Install Leaked Android 5.0 Lollipop on LG G3 D855
RICIU ANDREI HOW TO
1
2LG G3 is among the first Android powered smartphone to receive OTA Lollipop update. Since the firmware is prepared for a soon to come roll out, a tested version of the software has been already leaked. Well, if you just can’t wait for the actual launch, you can now choose to download and flash the leaked Lollipop firmware on your own LG G3 model number D855. And if you are ready to do so, then you can use the guidelines from below, where I will show you how to safely complete the update process.
The leaked Android 5.0 firmware is provided by those of xda-developers and we have to thanks them for this update opportunity. The installation process will imply in using LG Flash Tool, a dedicated program which provides you an intuitive way for updating your LG G3 to latest Android OS. Moreover, using this tool is 100% safe and secured as you don’t have to install other complex and risky software which can damage or even brick your phone. Anyway, for further info, don’t hesitate and read the following lines. The first leaked LG G3 Lollipop firmware wasn’t stable as there were numerous bugs and lags featured on the default Android 5.0 system. But, a second test ROM got released and this time the OS can be used on a daily basis, meaning that the Lollipop platform runs smoothly on the LG G3 model number D855. Of course, this is not the final built so not all default features will be pre installed on the leaked ROM. For example, new notification bar swipe-down toggles menu is nowhere to find and basic features like Battery, Network and WiFi icons are missing from status bar. Other than that, this Lollipop ROM is just perfect.
The best is that you can test Android 5.0 ahead of official release. Also, when the OTA will be provided, you will be able to apply it without problems, which means that the present preview built of Lollipop will be replaced by the stock roll out.
Anyway, do note that this is still a manual update procedure. This will imply in using your technical skills and if you are a newbie who is using the Android system for the first time, maybe the best will be to wait for the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA launch instead of completing the guidelines from this tutorial. If you mess things up, you can end up in damaging or in bricking your LG G3 and I bet that that’s not your goal.
Important will be to make a Nandroid backup before going any further. By doing so, you can now save the current ROM that runs on your LG G3. You should complete the Nandroid backup as if you will not like the leaked Lollipop Android 5.0 OS you can choose to easily restore the previous and stable firmware – you can do all this through recovery mode.
In addition, a classic backup operation is also recommended. Since this is a manual flashing process, while completing the same your personal data, info and accounts might get corrupted or even wiped out. Because of that you might want to use backup and restore tools and other dedicated softwares for ensuring that your data is in safe hands. In that matter you should save your contacts, call logs, text messages, internet settings, market apps, images, videos, audio files and anything else from the internal storage memory of your smartphone.
Using LG Flash Tool for installing Android 5.0 Lollipop on LG G3 implies in using a computer and your phone’s USB cable. A connection between your devices will have to be established and for avoiding unpleasant situations from happening, on your computer you have to temporarily deactivate security protection (antivirus-like tools might interfere with the update operation) and your phone USB debugging option must be checked (for being sure that the USB connection is properly made – you can check the mentioned option by heading towards “menu – settings – developer options”).
Your G3 might get software bricked if it gets turned off in the middle of the Lollipop update operation. Therefore, before downloading and installing Android 5.0 charge your device – do it especially if the battery power left is less than 50%. Moreover, complete this step by step guide only if you own the D855 model of LG G3 or else you will mess things up completely. You can download the Lollipop firmware from here.
Also, you can download LG Flash Tool from here.
Place both files on your computer, preferable on desktop.
Unzip and install LG Flash Tool on your computer by following on screen prompts.
Place the .kdz update file on the same folder as Flash Tool.
Install LG G3 drivers on your computer.
Turn off your phone.
Enter download mode on your device and connect your smartphone with your computer by plugging in the USB cable.
From LG Flash Tool pick the Lollipop package and start the flash process.
Wait while the installation procedure is being completed.
In the end, unplug the USB cord and reboot your LG G3.
If your phone will get stuck in a boot loop after the final reboot, enter recovery mode on your Android device. From recovery select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”. In the end pick “reboot system now” and enjoy.
There you have it; you can now download and install the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS on your LG G3. Remember that this is not the official release of the OS and you might not receive the stock and default Lollipop experience. The Android OS is the most popular mobile operating system used on most of the smartphones and tablets out there. Of course the battle between Android and iOS, or should we say Google and Apple, if far from over, though both platforms are coming with great features and advantages for us, the gadgets addicted.
The best about Android is the possibility of customizing and optimizing the firmware and through this, the possibility of powering up the performances of our devices. Today, I will teach you how to tweak your Android handset by updating with a custom ROM software. This is a general tutorial that can be applied on any Android based smartphone / tablet, so read the following lines if you are new to Android or if you want to learn everything about custom ROMs and how to install the custom updates.ces of our devices. Today, I will teach you how to tweak your Android handset by updating with a custom ROM software. This is a general tutorial that can be applied on any Android based smartphone / tablet, so read the following lines if you are new to Android or if you want to learn everything about custom ROMs and how to install the custom updates.
When talking about custom ROMs, in your mind there should be only one thing: you are dealing with an unofficial port of the Android system, so the same is not an OTA (Over the Air) or official update released by Google for your Android device. That’s why the custom ROMs can be applied only manually and only by following dedicated step by step guides.
Regarding the up mentioned aspects, root access will be required if you want to update your smartphone / tablet with a custom firmware. Root means that you will gain access to the internal system of your handset by removing the factory and default restrictions. By rooting you will unchain the OS thus you will be able to remove in build apps and programs, add new features, install complex tools that requires root access in order to run properly, upgrade the battery life, improve the speeds and so on. Most important, a custom ROM can be flashed only on rooted Android devices.
The root operation is also unofficial so the warranty of your smartphone / tablet will get void. You can’t avoid this aspect (because of the up-mentioned details) so you will have to get through this without messing things up – you can end up in bricking your handsets. So, do follow dedicated step by step guides when trying to gain root access. Afterwards, if you don’t like the Custom ROM firmware that is running on your phone, if you want to apply an OTA on your device (on rooted handsets the official Android updates can’t be received or installed – you can apply the OTA only manually), or if you want to restore the lost warranty, you can do the same by downgrading your handset to stock Android OS, or by revoking the root access (again use suitable tutorials).
Now, leaving these aspects aside (I will detail the pre requisites a little bit later) let’s see what a custom ROM really is. Well, an unofficial version of the Android software is a free aftermarket distribution of the Android platform that comes with stock and extra features, apps, tools and capabilities. Usually a custom ROM is coming with its own looks and features so that’s why you can improve the performances of your device – do note with custom firmwares you will not receive the default Android looks and capabilities. The custom ROMs are being developed by third party devs and the platforms are based on the official / stock Android systems.
If you want to update your device with such firmware you should know that the most popular ROMs that are used by the Android users are: ParanoidAndroid, SlimBean, AOKP, CyanogenMod, MIUI and Omega. Don’t worry you can choose any other update as long as you are ensuring that the system is stable and without bugs or things that aren’t working properly. The custom updates might come with custom kernels which means that you can afterwards learn how to overclock your Android device for improving the speeds, or underclock for upgrading the battery life (we have suitable guides here on Android.gs). Besides, on custom ROMs you can make easier backups, you can change the looks, add apps from outside the Google Play coverage and lot more.
But if you want to successfully update your Android device with an unofficial firmware, you will first have to prepare your gadget, or else you will probably end up in bricking your handset. Below I have listed the most common preparation tasks that are required when dealing with custom ROMs like ParanoidAndroid, SlimBean, AOKP, CyanogenMod, MIUI and Omega.
Root your smartphone / tablet.
Install a custom recovery image on your device – you can use any recovery tool you want though it is recommended to flash CWM or TWRP recovery. The custom recovery will be used on the flashing operation as the stock recovery that comes pre-installed on Android can’t be used on unofficial procedures.
Backup the data which is saved on the internal storage memory of your handset; save everything you might need including text messages, call logs, internet settings, market apps, EFS folder and so on. Also, consider in making a Nandroid backup for saving the current software.
For these operations (update with custom ROMs) a computer is being required along with your smartphone / tablet and with the USB cable.
On both devices and computer you should first deactivate the security protection; the antivirus programs are usually interfering with the update operation.
Your device must be charged especially if the battery status indicates less than 60% power left; the handset might get bricked if it gets turned off while you are trying to install the custom firmware.
On your phone the USB debugging option must be enabled: “Settings -> More -> Development Options -> USB debugging”.
Now, be careful as each custom ROM comes with a version that is suitable only with one device; you can’t install the same variant of firmware on all the Android devices as the same is not compatible. So, download only compatible ROMs; don’t risk in bricking your handsets. Good, next we will be checking on how to apply the updates on your devices; do note though that this is an general tutorial. How to Install Custom ROMs on Android devices (universal guide)
First of all, on your computer you need to download the proper update file.
Optional: download the Google apps package if it is not included on the firmware file.
Save the files on desktop; don’t unzip them.
Then, connect your handset with the computer.
Establish the connecting by using the USB cord.
Copy-paste or drag and drop the downloaded files from desktop to your phone’s (tablet’s) SD card.
Disconnect the devices by unplugging the USB cable.
Turn off your smartphone / tablet and wait a few seconds.
Then reboot your gadget into recovery mode.
Next, navigate through the recovery mode menu and select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
The system will now be wiped out, so that’s why the backup has been recommended before.
Up next, return to recovery main menu: select “+++go back+++”.
And choose “install zip from SD card” and “choose zip from SD card”.
Pick the update file and flash the same.
Optional: repeat this operation for applying the Google Apps package.
When the installation process ends, from recovery select “+++go back+++” and “reboot system now”.
You are done.
Troubleshooting:
In some cases after flashing the custom ROM, when rebooting the first time, your handset might get stuck in a boot loop (if the first boot takes longer than usual, don’t panic, there is nothing wrong with your device); if that happens, follow:BOGDAN PIRVU HOW TO

Earlier today, we talked about how LG was gearing up to release Android 5.0 Lollipop for its flagship LG G3. The upcoming update, which is slated to reach consumer devices in Poland later this week, is undoubtedly in the final stages of preparation and testing. But since it’s so close to release, you may be wondering where exactly are the leaks. Well folks, a leaked firmware has now surfaced for the F400S variant of the LG G3.
Today’s leaked firmware comes courtesy of XDA Senior Member timmytim, who mirrored and posted the KDZ on the forums. The firmware is only compatible with the F400S variant of the LG G3, but you can start placing your bets as to when the firmware will be ported to other variants. At this point, users are generally reporting success with the leaked build, but as always, be cautious when flashing, and most certainly do not attempt to flash this directly on any device other than the F400S.
If you own an LG G3 F400S and you wish to get in on the update, and/or you wish to try and port it to other variants, head over to the LG G3 Android Lollipop Leak thread to get in on the action.

CWM/TWRP Recovery
This page is dedicated to Galaxy Note 4 CWM/TWRP recovery.
By installing CWM or TWRP recovery, you will be able to easily root and install custom ROMs on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Please note that installing a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP will set your KNOX to 0x01, which VOIDS your WARRANTY.
You can install CWM or TWRP easily if you have a rooted Note 4, see How to Flash IMG Files using Flashify App!
TWRP recovery for Galaxy Note 4
Download TWRP recovery for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T
Download TWRP recovery for Sprint Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910P
If you do not have insurance on your phone (separately from your warranty), you may want to reconsider either getting insurance before rooting or proceed at your own risk. Most U.S. carriers usually do not check for KNOX when you return phone for warranty unless you specifically tell them. So, if returning your phone to the store, please make sure to just unroot/unbrick with stock firmware and don’t tell them you’ve rooted your phone before.

For those of you who want to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 so you can run rooted apps and install custom ROMs, here’s how to root your Galaxy Note 4.Before we begin, this root method uses ChainFire’s CF AutoRoot to give you root. This root method does void KNOX warranty so we highly recommend you to get insurance before doing so (since with insurance you can get a new phone even if you void warranty).
This root method will work on most Galaxy Note 4 models including:
SM-N910F – International
SM-N910G/SM-N910H Asian
SM-N910T – T-Mobile U.S.
SM-N910P – Sprint
SM-N910R4 – US Cellular
SM-N910W8 – Canadian
SM-N910C – Thailand
SM-N910U – Hong Kong
SM-N910K/SM-N910L/SM-N910S – Korean KT, LG, SK Telecom
SM-N9100/SM-N9106W/SM-N9108V/SM-N9109W
For AT&T or Verizon Note 4, you may have to wait for another root method.*Note – This root method DOES NOT ERASE ANYTHING on your phone.
This root tutorial is for Windows computer but you can use JODIN instead ODIN on Mac OSX or Linux/Ubuntu.
Step 1. Power off your Galaxy Note 4 then hold down Volume Down, Center Home, and Power buttons together until you see the warning screen like below:
Step 2. Hit Volume Up button to enter ODIN Download Mode then connect a micro-USB cable from your Note 4 to your computer.
Step 3. Go to ChainFire’s XDA thread here and download the appropriate CF Auto root for your Note 4 model.
Step 4. Unzip the downloaded file and you should see a bunch of files. Double-click on ODIN3-v3.07.exe to run ODIN program.
Step 5. Next, you should see a blue, highlighted box with a random COM number. If you see this, you have proper Note 4 Windows drivers installed. If not, download and install Note 4 Windows drivers.
Step 6. Choose “PDA” then select the file ending in “tar.md5″.
Step 7. Hit the “Start” button and CF Auto Root should be flashing to your Note 4.
Step 8. When done successfully, you should see “RESET!”. If you get stuck, try using a different USB hub/cable and simply try again.
Step 9. Reboot and you should find a new app called “SuperSU” in your app drawer. Congratulations! You’ve successfully rooted your Galaxy Note 4!
Step 10. Open up SuperSU app and update the binary if needed.
Step 11. Also, disable KNOX if SuperSU asks you. KNOX is an annoying, useless security program Samsung has put on your phone and it will only interfere with root and rooted apps.
Step 12. To verify you have full root, simply download and run Titanium Backup app from Play Store. You should see Superuser request window popup.
That’s it!
Next steps?
At the time of writing this tutorial, there is no custom recovery like CWM or TWRP available. But once it comes available, you can use Flashify app to install it.
FAQ
Q: Can I remove root later easily?
A: Yes, you can remove root easily in 1-click using SuperSU app, see this video tutorial.Q: Is there any way to get CWM/TWRP recovery after this root method?
A: No, because the bootloader is still locked, you need to use SafeStrap recovery instead!Q: How can I thank you for your tutorial?
A: I don’t take donations but if you could PLEASE subscribe to my Zedomax YouTube channel, that would help me greatly and thank you!Need Help? Follow/add me on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter!
